Residing on the shores of New England has enabled me to enjoy the many benefits of living in a coastal community. I am directly influenced by the beauty, color and patterns seen in the surroundings. Besides enjoying the beautiful rocky beaches of Humarock and the sandy dunes of Cape Cod, my family and I love the local customs of clamming and fishing.
I received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art and a minor in Art History. I proceeded to do graduate work in Textile Design and worked in the fashion industry for 10 years before deciding to follow other interests that eventually led to Scealu.
My intent with Scealu was to create a beautiful and quality driven product that I was proud to give as a gift. It allowed me to combine many different interests into one product: art, graphics and a pure love of the sea. I continue to make each one by hand.
The word "Scealu" is taken from the Old English word for “shell” and is pronounced
